Bragg Creek Artisans
The Bragg Creek Artisans is a collective group of like-minded artists committed to expanding their expertise and promoting local arts within their community. The general membership has more than quadrupled since its beginning. The area from which members are accepted has expanded from Bragg Creek and environs to include neighbouring communities.
Many members discovered specific shared interests. Painting, weaving, photography, music and the performing arts all spawned subgroups, most of which are still flourishing, supported by the parent organization. The Singers perform in Calgary and surrounding communities. A Performing Arts Series (now under the umbrella of the Community Association) is thriving. The Painters have extended their activities to mount a Spring Exhibition and Sales weekend. In July, in conjunction with Bragg Creek Days, the Artisans hold a mini-sale.
Bragg Creek has become a centre for the arts with which to be reckoned. At last count there were some ten arts and crafts retail outlets. The performing arts are represented by the annual entertainment series, the Singers, and the Bragg Arts Theatre Group. The Bragg Creek Artisans Association remains an important and vital focus for the artistic community as a whole.
