Commonly referred to as ‘The Dump’, the municipal transfer site is a well-organized, smoothly run facility for disposal of your household or business refuse, and recycling. 

Directions: proceed from Highway 22 towards the Elbow River.  Once over the river turn right at the 3-way stop, towards Wintergreen.  After approximately 1 km you will see a sign for the Transfer Site on the left.  Drive up to the top and you’re there.  Note that the dump has a one-way system, so once inside the gate turn immediate right. 

Opening Hours:
Wednesday:  11:00 am to 7:00 p.m.
Saturday:       9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

There is a charge for garbage (per bag) but recycling is free.  Both and residents and non-residents can use the site.

Accepted Materials:
- Household Garbage - 1 tag-a-bag ticket per bag, or $2 for Rockyview tax payers; others $3 per bag. Tickets are $45 per book of 25 (saving of $5). For a large load, the fee is based on $30 for a level 8 foot truck
- Recyling:

•  Cardboard and mixed paper (including phone books)
•  Newspaper 
•  Glass 
•  Metal 
•  Electronics – TVs, computers and peripherals
•  Tires (rims removed) 
•  Household plastics (Must be clean. Household, beauty and food containers only. No toys, industrial items or Styrofoam)
•  Grass and leaves (seasonal) 
•  Christmas trees (seasonal) 
•  Cell phones – give to attendants
•  Fridges and cooling units including water coolers; $20 charge for freon removal (and a fee applies to these items
•  Bunker bags, silage tarps, bale wrap (must be rolled) 
•  Wire and binder twine – separate collections; ask attendants 
•  Empty agricultural pesticide containers (must be triple rinsed) 
•  Hazardous materials – rechargeable batteries, paint, florescent bulbs, car batteries, propane tanks, toxic/flammable items, spray bombs.  Ask attendants for more information
•  Oil – motor oil (no mixtures)
•  Clothing – must be bagged
•  Large bulky household items (e.g. furniture). A fee between $5 and $20 applies per piece, depending on size
• Note there is no Take-It-Or-Leave-It scheme.  There are other programs set up for this in Cochrane and Calgary and you may contact Redwood Meadows about the new program they are setting up.
